V Ground Cherry Jam

3 cups ripe ground cherries
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1 package Sure-Jel
3 cups sugar


To a quart saucepan, add all ingredients EXCEPT the sugar. Bring mixture to a boil and mash the cherries. Be sure they are all mashed so they absorb the sugar. Add sugar and boil according to Sure-Jel directions. Spoon into sterlized jars and either sterilize in hot water bath according to Sure-Jel directions, or place in refridgerator where the jam will last for at least a month. It can also be frozen in small freezer bags.
