Main Season share #15 at the end of August.
Anchor Run Farm's CSA Style
We're a traditional CSA-only farm so 100% of our produce and effort is devoted to our members.
Anchor Run CSA now has two distinct harvest seasons: Main Season (26 weeks, mid-May to mid-Nov) and Late Fall (8 weeks, mid-Nov to end-Dec). We're taking a hiatus from a formal Winter season (Jan-March) to do some traveling and enjoy some down time (we may do a few flash sales during the winter months).
CSA Members can choose which size share best satisfies their needs: Full, Medium, and Half. We offer on-farm pick up on 3 separate days each week during the Main Season (Mon, Thu, Sat) and 2 separate days each week during the Late Fall and Winter seasons (Wed, Sat). Members may switch pick up days or weeks if they miss or are on vacation. Included with each share size for the Main Season is the option to participate in minimal farm work to receive a discount.
On pick up days freshly harvested and washed produce is displayed in bins in the pick up room for you to select exactly what you want. Options and amounts are specified on harvest boards directly behind the produce. Universally loved items such as tomatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, zucchini, berries, melons etc. are typically given to all members. More unique items such as celeriac, kohlrabi, dandelion greens, turnips, herbs, etc. are given as choices so you can select what you want. Ultimately we strive to give you as much choice as possible.
When you create an account and sign up for a share you're registering yourself as the 'primary' share owner and contact person, but you may have someone else pick up your produce for you or with you (friend, family member, etc). Others may also help you complete your work discount. You can even add names and e-mails to your account through your members page (under 'member services' on left side, scroll down).

Included with each share is a portion that the farmers freshly harvest and wash on your pick up day; the other portion of the share is U-Pick: items that you yourself can collect from the field. These items are intentionally planted together in fields closest to the pick up room and parking lot. These items include strawberries, peas, raspberries, blackberries, beans, edamame, flowers, perennial herbs, and more. We include a map in the pick up room and signs in the field so you know exactly where to go for your produce. Amounts are specified and containers are available. The farm is open to members to collect their u-pick allotment 8am-8pm Mon-Sun of their pick up week if time isn't available or there is inclement weather on your scheduled pick up day.

Organically Grown Food at an Affordable Price
We believe in fairness, quality, taste, and value. As a CSA member, you receive a share of the farm harvest each week. All of the produce we grow is for our CSA members. We have a predetermined, finite number of CSA members and we design our crop plan to meet the produce needs of our membership with a built in margin for error. In 2018 we had a total of 32 weeks of produce pick up for our members. 250 members came each week for the Main Season and 100 members for the Late Fall. Membership is intentionally limited at these numbers; we've been fortunate to sell out each year.
Members receive a satisfyingly diverse array of produce each week including crowd pleasing staples as well as unique crops and varieties. On average, Full Shares receive 8-14 pounds of produce weekly, Medium Shares receive 6-10 pounds of produce weekly, and Half Shares receive 8-14 pounds of produce every other week. When there are bumper yields of items you'll receive that bumper. For example, in addition to the normal weekly allotment, you might receive 10 pounds of tomatoes for a week or two during the peak, watermelon for a month and a half, or 20 pounds of sweet potatoes over a month. Thus, poundage is mostly a minimum and often is exceeded. Our goal is to provide you with more than what you're paying for, to give you as much choice in the pick up room as possible, and to provide you with kitchen staples.
The CSA model is meant to be mutually beneficial for members and farmers. Because all of our members pick up at the farm, do u-pick at the farm, and work with us in the fields each season, we have a direct relationship with our members and community. We'll send you a survey at season's end for your feedback. You can come to our monthly potlucks and classes. We work for and with you!
